Deep in the pit sprawls the Last City, Ktonor, extending into the gloom below, hints of the architects’ madness glimpsed in the alien unsettling shapes that are illuminated by phosphorus glows only to disappear into the shadows, ever illusive and foreboding.
Here the Underworld’s children roam, crippled, blasted and forgotten beings living at the edge of nothingness. All around, in colorless envy they stride, the queens of sorrow, soul mergers, dream thieves and storytellers march along the paths, a procession of of hatred openly displayed, wearing the pain upon the flesh of the city itself.
The Biomechanical Keepers, the Erotomechaniks, the Womb Nurses move through shadows to the Birth Chambers. Sound plays through the ashen covered great halls in the lower depths and memories decay in the graves of the Fallen Realms. Charred instruments play the notes of melancholy as rotten chords provide the harmonic dissonance.
Into Nothingness, past the Temple of the Blind, the Inner Labyrinth, to the edge where it is whispered you may find She Who Waits Below, beyond time, space and chaos itself. The dread maelstrom of the black hole roars, consuming all matter, from mundane atom to celestial spirit all is torn asunder…. Nothingness reigns. Achlys.
Matthew is a master of evolving sound. This is a journey to darker, deeper places. A new soul skin is resplendent in the sonic tapestries Matthew weaves on this release. Outstanding in every way. Mindspawn
I know of no other artist that captures the fiercesome nature that lives inside the human beast the way that Coph Nia does, and the Holy War EP is humanity's war cry, saying "go ahead make my day." Mindspawn
Phragments is an incredible artist creating sound that defies easy explanation. Go listen, allow yourself to sink into the depths of this artist's vision. Mindspawn
